STRONG MOMMAS - part 3 - Morgan Leeman & Tiffany Chasse

I am so excited about each of these amazing mothers being featured in our STRONG MOMMAS initiative with this month's the #MommyStoriesKindnessChallenge.

The goal is to help these moms realize how truly strong they are, how hard working and inspiring they are to others. In return, I'm hoping you fellow moms will shower them with little tokens of support - I'm suggesting you send free notes of encouragement, or small gifts up to $5-$10. Just something to show them we care and that they are GREAT. Thanks to all moms!

If interested in supporting these strong mommas, please email me at themommystories@gmail.com.

Congratulations to our next STRONG MOMMA, Morgan Leeman! She was nominated by Shelby Davis, who said, "Okay, so for a mom who has been through hell and back and never lets on? Morgan Leeman. She has been through a 5 year custody battle for her daughter and her ex boyfriend even lied about where her daughter was living for 5 months last year. (He said they were in Illinois and the entire time they were in Massachusetts!) She has spent tens of thousands of dollars and countless days in court trying to get her daughter after a court mistake granted her ex boyfriend primary custody 5 years ago - and just had a final court case this week and is awaiting a judges decision. This most recent court hearing was 11 months in the making and she waited 8 months for a court date. She has shown amazing strength at a time when I'd be in the fetal position crying. She more than anyone I know deserves some recognition."

1. What do you think makes you a strong mom? What would others say makes you a strong mother?

I think what makes me a strong mom, is that I always keep fighting.

My life since I became a mom, hasn't been the easiest. I got pregnant when I was 17 (which a lot of people know.), and was (and still am) always judged by it. It's given me a lot of strength to keep moving and to do what's right. I've also had a lengthy custody battle (and a battle is an understatement) for my daughter. But honestly, it's just become my life. Not too many people know about my custody fight, but I'm sure if they had any clue how long, and hard, that I've fought, then people would view me different.

2. What helps you get through the difficult moments as a mother?

My kids. My kids are the reason why I wake up and live every day. Knowing that I'm doing the best, for my kids, gets me through the hard days.
3. What is your advice to another mom going through a tough time?
Keep going. Lots of tears, lots of yelling and screaming inside, a lot of should I just give up, but honestly it's worth it. I've been through a lot of hard days, and sleepless nights. But it's worth it. 5 years ago if you told me I'd be in the spot that I am now, I would've bet my life against it. But I've always done the right thing, and have always kept hope.
4. What are 5 of your favorite things in the world (color, food, drink, candy, store, song, flower, etc.)
A couple of my favorite things are Starbucks (for when those sleepless nights happen, and for those stress eating days!), I love roses!, pink and blue are my favorite colors, I love gummy bears and j.Crew.

CONGRATULATIONS TO TIFFANY CHASSE! Shannon Carter nominated her saying, "I wanted to nominate a strong mom. Her name is Tiffany Chasse, she is 30 weeks along with her second little one. She has had so much stress with both pregnancies. She had her first at 30 weeks and 3 days. I would love to show her that she's not alone, that she has all of us moms."

Hoping that baby #2 stays in there longer, this strong momma sure does deserve some encouragement and happy tokens of support!

1. What do you think makes you a strong mom? What would others say makes you a strong mother?
I think something that has pushed me to be a strong mother is having a 10 week preemie. Being in the NICU (75 days) and watching our baby girl struggle to breathe was the hardest thing I've ever been through. We still see multiple specialist and now a nutritionist because she's a peanut! I'm currently pregnant with baby #2 (boy!) and it looks like we may be facing another early birth. Thankfully, I'm almost a week further along than our first, things are progressing quickly but we are keeping our fingers.....and legs crossed!!!!

I would say that others might think I'm a strong mom because even when times are tough, I try to see the positive in things and make light of any situation. I'm not a dweller, things happen, I learn from it and move on. I am a true believer in "everything happens for a reason", I can thank my mom for that .

2. What helps you get through the difficult moments as a mother?
Talking to my friends and family is what gets me through the difficult times. I honestly don't even know what I would do if it wasn't for them. I sometimes try and do a mind dump on paper to clear my head of all my thoughts or even just to rant! I'm also a fan of reading poetry and quotes, it sometimes helps me put things in perspective.

3. What is your advice to another mom going through a tough time?
Advice...oh boy...I would have to say be as positive as you can, there is always something to be thankful for. When things happen try not to dwell, life is too short and precious to carry that weight around. Try and reach out to your friends and family! If you need someone new to share with or get advice, there are so many great women willing to listen...I will always have an open ear!...or two!

4. What are 5 of your favorite things in the world (color, food, drink, candy, store, song, flower, etc.)
My favorite colors are pink and red. Favorite food right now would be chocolate chip muffins, burgers and fruit. Favorite sweets are Reese's and Butterfingers I enjoy doing projects around the house and gardening. Favorite flowers are Dalias and Calla Lilies.
