I think we moms need to appreciate ourselves for all that we do during pregnancy and during motherhood. We are doing big jobs. We deserve a day to relax, an hour to rest or read a book, or go to the spa!
"Don't minimize what you do - even when you know things could have gone better - because when you take yourself for granted or when you focus only on your shortcomings, the people you shortchange are your kids." (page 245) from the book The 7 Stages of Motherhood by Ann Pleshette Murphy
So I ask you, what would you do for yourself on Mother's Day?
It's like that airplane advice, put your own life mask on first before trying to help others. We need to take care of ourselves before we can take care of our children. When pregnant, that means resting as much as possible, prioritizing what's important, putting your feet up, accepting help from your partner, family and friends. With kids it means being healthy by exercising and eating right, letting the chores wait so you can play with your child, and doing whatever makes you feel like a person again, not just like a mom.
Appreciate yourself. You know how big of a job this is that you are doing. Thank yourself in some way for doing it.
